Ways to participate in the 2020 Dia de los Muertos Festival!

Central Community Altar at the Corpus Christi Dia de los Muertos Festival on the stage of the Ritz Theater. Statue of La Virgen de Guadelupe at center in dramatic lighting with gold curtain background.

Create an ofrenda (altar) to exhibit in the annual Walk of Remembrance Ofrenda Display.

The Walk of Remembrance features altars by community members and businesses. This year, our community altar (pictured) will be displayed in the window of K Space Contemporary at 623 N. Chaparral St.

We invite the community – businesses, neighbors, families and individuals –  to create altars and register your altar with us. Take a photo of your altar, send it to us, and we will include it in our Ofrenda Slideshow to be placed on our website, YouTube, and social media accounts. We will create a map of ofrendas in the downtown area so people can take a self-guided walking tour.

Dia de los Muertos Art Challenge at K Space Art Lab

Join us on Instagram @KSpaceArtLab for our Dia de los Muertos Art Challenge, an online project where artists (and those who’d like to be artists) are encouraged to establish a daily art practice. Any age may participate. The challenge begins Oct. 1 and runs through Nov. 2.  We post a daily word prompt as an inspiration for the day’s artwork, and our instructors go Live on Instagram 4-6 times per week with an art demonstration or lesson. Then, we all share our work using the hashtag #DDLMArtChallenge and flood Instagram with Dia de los Muertos related artwork!  (Check out our current Art Challenge)
