“This piece is dedicated to my grandmother San Juana Tijerina. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and wife. Each of these pieces of fabric is a representation of the days spent with my dearest grandmother. The life of the party and always the first to dance and grito. The lyrics to Tragos Amargos echo in my ear and a smile from the pit of my belly when I think about family breakfast with the cousins on a Sunday morning. Music belting from the stereo as the smell of tortillas fill the house. This lowrider is for my grandmother to cruise with me and the fam one more time in the comfort and warmth like your hugs a lasting impression like getting the lipstick off my cheek as you said goodbye. I know you are dancing and singing with Uncle David, your brothers, sisters, Father and Mom.”
