Downtown Walk of Remembrance
Altar Display and Decoration Contest
Although there will be no street festival this year, we want to keep the spirit of Dia de los Muertos alive in downtown Corpus Christi. We are inviting downtown neighbors to participate in the Walk of Remembrance Dia de los Muertos Altar and Decoration contest. The resulting Downtown Altar Tour, sponsored by H.E.B., will run from Oct. 28 through November 12, coinciding with a community altar display at the Ritz Theater.
We encourage everyone to place ofrendas/altars in business windows or another prominent area or to decorate their windows or storefront for Dia de los Muertos. We will create a map listing all downtown participants for a walking tour.
The map will be available both in print and online. Printed maps will be distributed to all participants to handout to customers. Then, Visitors may pick up a map and take a self-guided walking tour through downtown.
Your altar and/or decorations will also be included in our Virtual Altar Exhibition with your logo. Awards will be presented for Best Dia de los Muertos Altar and Best Dia de los Muertos Decorations.

October 28th – November 12th: Dia de los Muertos displays must be in place by October 28th and remain in place until November 12. We would love to see storefront window painting, decorations, lights and paper picado (Mexican banners) and altars lit up at night.
