Walk of Remembrance Ofrenda Display at the Ritz Theater
We are excited to present the 2021 Dia de los Muertos Walk of Remembrance Ofrenda Display at the Ritz Theater. The Ofrenda Display is a display of altars created by local students and families, a spectacular community altar, and a tribute wall where visitors may honor deceased loved ones. Ofrendas honor, remember, and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed, and items on the altars help to lead their spirits home for the Days of the Dead on November 1st and 2nd.
The event features mariachi music by Dueto America de Oscar y Letty each night, and Ballet Folklorico by Teresa Saldivar and Team Dance. The Ofrenda Display at the Ritz is sponsored by Dignity Memorial and Funeraria del Angel.
The Ofrenda Display is Free and open to the public:
- Thursday, Oct. 28, 6 to 8 pm
- Friday, Oct. 29, 6 to 9 pm
- Saturday, Oct. 30, 3 to 9 pm

- Monday, Nov. 1, 6 to 8 pm

The public is invited to bring photos of deceased loved ones to add to the community altar. Photos will be saved and used year after year. Or they may leave a memorial on our tribute wall.
The Ritz Theater built in 1929. The Ritz was the 1st talking movie theater in the area, one of the finest theatres in Texas, and is best known as The Ritz Music Hall in the 70s, home to a great range of artists from Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and Stevie Ray Vaughn to Metallica and Def Leppard. The old architecture and cavernous atmosphere lead some to believe that spirits of past patrons and performers may inhabit the property. PATCH, a non-profit organization, has begun efforts to restore the Ritz to its original glory as a hub for creativity in downtown Corpus Christi. It has proven to be the perfect location for our altar display for the past several years. We appreciate PATCH for allowing us to use the building.
While there, visitors can pick up a map and take the Downtown Altar Tour of ofrendas and decorations in downtown businesses, or stop by K Space Contemporary to see the Dia de los Muertos Art Exhibitions and art market Tienditas de Dia de los Muertos which features talented festival vendors.
