2018 Walk of Remembrance at the Ritz Theater
For Dia de los Muertos Festival Visitors:
While visiting the festival, stop by the historical, majestic Ritz Theater on Chaparral Street to tour the Ofrenda Exhibition Walk of Remembrance. Children, families, artists and other members of the community will create altars for this special display at the annual Dia de los Muertos Festival.
The Altars honor family, friends, military heros, celebrities, writers, activists or community leaders (city, government, education, religion), etc. Center stage holds the large community altar where anyone may leave a photo of or a message to a deceased loved one.
The Ritz will be open to visitors during the Dia de los Muertos Festival on October 27, 3 to 10:00 pm, and again during ArtWalk, November 2, 6 to 9 pm.
Want to participate! All are welcome!
We invite the community to participate in creating ofrendas (altars) for display at the annual Dia de los Muertos Festival. The ofrenda exhibition, honoring loved ones and remembering those who have passed, is an important memorial tradition during Dia de los Muertos.
Anyone may participate: artists, community members, youth groups, social clubs, etc. Ofrendas may honor any person or theme of your choice – family, military heros, celebrities, writers, activists, or community leaders (city, government, education, religion), etc.
Ofrendas are displayed in the Ritz Theater at 715 N. Chaparral Street. The Ritz will be open to visitors during the Dia de los Muertos Festival on October 28, 3 to 10:00 pm, and again during ArtWalk, November 2, 6 to 9 pm. The Ritz will be closed and locked at all other times.
Altars must be installed 1 week before the festival and taken down 1 week after
