Altar Display

dia de los muertos ofrenda, day of the dead altar, marigolds Ofrenda Exhibition

2018 Walk of Remembrance at the Ritz Theater

For Dia de los Muertos Festival Visitors:

While visiting the festival, stop by the historical, majestic Ritz Theater on Chaparral Street to tour the Walk of Remembrance Ofrenda Exhibition.  Community members and groups create altars for this special display during the annual Dia de los Muertos Festival.

Center stage holds a large community ofrenda and tribute wall where anyone may leave a photo of or a message to a deceased loved one.

Want to participate? All are welcome!

We invite the community to participate by creating ofrendas (altars) for this special Dia de los Muertos Festival exhibition. Ofrendas honor and remember loved ones who have passed.

Anyone may participate: artists, community members, youth groups, social clubs, etc.  Ofrendas may honor any person or group of your choice such as, family, military heros, celebrities, writers, activists, community leaders (city, government, education, religion), etc.

Ofrendas are displayed in the Ritz Theater at 715 N. Chaparral Street. The Ritz is open to visitors during the Dia de los Muertos Festival on October 27, 3 to 10:00 pm, and again during ArtWalk, November 2, 6 to 9 pm.  The Ritz will be closed and locked at all other times.

Local teachers and youth group leaders who participate by creating ofrendas with their K-12 classes, after-school clubs, and/or youth groups are eligible to receive a supply allowance.
