Walk of Remembrance at the Ritz Theater
We invite you to participate! All are welcome:
We invite the community to participate in creating ofrendas (altars) for display at the annual Dia de los Muertos Festival. The ofrenda exhibition, honoring loved ones and remembering those who have passed, is an important memorial tradition during Dia de los Muertos.
Anyone may participate: artists, community members, youth groups, social clubs, etc. Ofrendas may honor any person or theme of your choice – family, military heros, celebrities, writers, activists, or community leaders (city, government, education, religion), etc.
Ofrendas are displayed in the Ritz Theater at 715 N. Chaparral Street. The Ritz will be open to visitors during the Dia de los Muertos Festival on October 28, 3 to 10:00 pm, and again during ArtWalk, November 2, 6 to 9 pm. The Ritz will be closed and locked at all other times.
Local teachers and youth group leaders who participate by creating ofrendas with their classes, after-school clubs, and/or youth groups are eligible to receive a supply allowance. The first 6 Youth Groups to turn in their registration form will receive a supply allowance of $50 to purchase supplies to use towards making their ofrendas.
